Anthropic is going public. The numbers say the work already moved.
Anthropic filed to go public this week. Ticker ANT. I run my whole business on Claude, so I read the numbers.
The numbers
$16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of 2026. A year earlier it was $1.2 billion. That's 14x.
11,900 companies now pay them over $100,000 a year. A year ago it was about 950.
And the one that stopped me. 900% net revenue retention. A company that spent $1 on Claude last year is spending about $9 this year.
Nobody 9x's their spend on a chatbot
They do it because the agents are doing real work. Claude Code. Cowork. Agents that do the job.
Yes, there's an $80.7 billion loss in there. Most of it is an accounting charge on paper. The business itself lost $693 million.
The part that matters if you run a small business
The big companies already figured this out. About 250 of them pay Anthropic over $10 million a year each.
You don't need a Fortune 500 budget to use the same tools. You need them set up around the work you actually do.
At Obsidian AI Labs, we believe an AI is only as good as what it can do for you. Not the hype. Not the stock price. What it does on a Tuesday morning when the invoices are piling up.
I'm not here to tell anyone what to do, and this isn't financial advice on the stock. I'm here to tell you that AI can do more for you than you think.
Curious what AI could take off your plate? Let's talk about the work, not the hype.
